Neurogistics

Brain Wellness Programs for Athletes

Adam Tannehill
"I began using Neurogistics products about a year ago to try and help me improve my focus and be more mentally balanced while pursuing my career as a professional golfer. The support I have received from the practitioners at Neurogistics from the analysis stage and throughout the program has been phenomenal. In only a few weeks I noticed my concentration and mental toughness had improved. One year later, I am still amazed at the focus and core balance I have on the course. My game has improved and I really appreciate Pam and the others at Neurogistics as they continue to help adjust my supplements as I play golf on the tours. I believe this is a much needed program for any athlete."

Tara Macdonald "Growing up, I knew I had what it took to succeed in sports. However, when I entered the D1 college setting, I found that the mental and physical stress began to take a toll on my performance both on the field and in the classroom. I consistently felt like I was running on empty and that my body was never fully able to recover. After taking part in the Neurogistics program, I found that I had more energy than before, which also allowed me to focus better and develop as both a player and student. I continue to work with Pam and the Neurogistics staff to alter my regimen as needed. This program will aide me in achieving my goals as a professional athlete."

Athletes at every level have special needs. Elite athletes need a significant increase in omega 3 fatty acids to recovery from injury since omega 3's act as natural anti-inflammatory agents in the body. They also need a larger quantity of proteins to ensure that they have the needed components for appropriate muscle recovery and brain health. Weekend warriors may need only a slight increase in omega 3 fatty acids and proteins to ensure that the brain and body remain healthy. High school athletes have to ensure that their growing bodies have enough components for all recovery and continued growth at the same time.

Testing neurotransmitters is a measuring tool to ensure that the brain is perfectly balanced and has adequate supplies of neurotransmitters for optimal performance. Anyone can use up their neurotransmitters at a faster than normal rate when they are unduly stressed. Imagine how many neurotransmitters are excreted during intensive workouts! The only way to rejuvenate neurotransmitters is through the proteins in your diet or through diet and supplementation. Digestion must be good to ensure that proteins break down into amino acids. The amino acids are then utilized for many things in the body including muscle repair and neurotransmitter synthesis.

Neurogistics has had the privilege of working with all levels of athletes from high school soccer and baseball teams to NCAA golf, soccer and basketball teams as well as NBA, PGA and NFL players and professional cyclists. Many athletes choose to test their urinary neurotransmitter levels as well as salivary cortisol levels to ensure that their adrenal stress is appropriate for their level of play. Customized protocols are necessary for all patients whether they are an athlete or not. The differece in an athlete's protocol is that the times of administration of the supplemental amino acid therapy may be quite different depending on the time of day that their sport is played. A prime example is the NBA. Most games are played in the evening. At 7 p.m. our bodies should be winding down toward a restful sleep cycle. NBA players must be on top of their game at 7 p.m. A customized protocol with appropriate timing is advantageous for all athletes.
